Cooking Mitch something new.

So I asked Mitch if he wants me to cook something safe or something new and experiment. He said he wants to experiment.

Therefore I decided that I should buy some yummy yummy duck and cook a Thai Red Curry.

So I got the duck from Vic market stupidly early and then made some red curry paste.

Thought I'd try something new for dinner (It was extremely hot)

So I thought I'd try a new recipe for dinner and one of the cook books at my place had a recipe for Spicy Mexican Lamb Stew. I thought in addition to recipe I would throw a ghost pepper from the balcony garden.

End result: Delicious but Wowza on the heat. IT BURNS!

Yummy Ghost Pepper from the balcony

I cooked enough for the next few days
Served with yummy corn chips on the side

Bottling Day!

So in anticipation that we may be stuck at home for an extended period of time I thought I would plan ahead and make sure I have enough alcohol to see me through this.

With this in mind I thought I would retry my hand at home brewing. So I went and bought a new homebrew kit from a shop in Williamstown, as well as the supplies to make a couple of small batches of cider. (Most of my friends don't like the taste of beer).

So I have brewed 20 litres (56 stubbies) of Berliner Weisse (sour beer), two long necks of pink lady apple cider, two long necks of pink lady/strawberry/raspberry cider, and one long neck that is a mix of the two.

10 kgs of Apples
Juicing the apples
Ready to be bottled
Prepping everything before bottling
Siphoning the apple cider
I tried to filter the cider (got most of it I think)
And now I have to wait another two weeks before I get to drink them.

Woo Quarantine | Chilli Jam

So as everyone knows when you have to be isolated, the thing to do is to start a blog. Luckily I already have a blog; be it a forgotten and hasn't had a post in over a year.

So here I go again. Haha.

So apart from working from home I plan to do a bunch of things around the house to keep myself sane.
Tonight's thing was making myself a couple of jars chilli jam.

Chilli jam although it says jam is closer to sweet chilli sauce than other kinds of jam. (I mainly have it on things like fried chicken, dumplings, or with bacon)

So for this I used a recipe mum sent me from the internet:
Chilli Jam Recipe
One thing to note is that rather than the 6 long chillies, I used 5 store bought chillies and one ghost pepper (Bhut jolokia) that I have growing on the back veranda.

Ghost Peppers (Bhut jolokia)

All in all, very simple recipe to follow and very tasty. Although the ghost pepper probably makes it less consumable for some of my friends (not that I'll see them haha)

Chilli Goodness

Two and a half jars should last me a while.
